Emerging Encaustic artist, Britt Merrylees, has been making her mark in the global art scene since 2016. Making impressions with her innovative techniques and elegant style, her creative works have been featured at various iconic places across the globe such as the Parallax Fair in London, Arnold St Gallery in Bendigo, The Brick Lane Gallery in London, Rossocinabro in Rome, the Chianciano Biennale in Italy and most recently, she had a solo exhibition at Bondi Pavilion Gallery.
Putting her unique spin on 5th Century BCE encaustic art, this young Australian artist’s contemporary approach to encaustic art rivals its historic counterparts. Connecting with viewers almost instantaneously, Britt’s mark making emerges from her subconscious, flavoured with raw emotions and awe. Portrayed in vibrant colourful explosions, she expresses real life experiences in each work of art, from the way the unpredictable wax flows, to its hardening and harmonious layering, as it unfolds to represent the beauty and unison that nature abounds.
Working out of her home studio in Sydney, Australia, Britt continues to refine her skills and talents while pursuing her master’s degree in Art Therapy. Since her debut exhibition entitled “Texture 2” at Art Studios Co-Operative in Gosford, she progressed towards astounding achievements. Building on the momentum, with a keen eye for the exquisiteness of natural worldly elements, and its scenic diversity, Britt Merrylees passion and love for art continues to motivate her to greatness.
