Isla Patterson, a well known Canberra Artist, is a multi-award winning watercolourist, specializing in portraying nature and life both in the Canberra region, the outback, wildlife, seascapes and overseas scenes.

She has lived in the ACT since 1979 and over this period has developed a reputation as an artist known especially for her distinctive depictions of the local scene, and although proficient in most mediums, prefers the delicacy of watercolours.

Isla was born in South Australia and took up art in the late 1960’s. She studied art in South Australia with Trevor Clare and watercolours with Ruth Tuck. Isla lived in the USA from 1975 to 1978 where she continued her art studies, belonged to the International Art Society and held her first solo exhibition. Isla has held well over 20 successful solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group shows. She has paintings in collections throughout Australia and overseas.Isla is teaching art and judging art exhibitions. She has also set up & conducted art classes & exhibitions for the MS, Society, ACT.

Isla has worked on many commissions, some being paintings for Jason Placemats, paintings of the international building models at Cockington Green and the Canberra Times building.
