Myra Carter – ‘Resilience’

Auction Ended

Resilience is an abstract botanical painting using acrylic paint on stretched canvas. It is part of a wider collection of paintings called Wild Botanicals that celebrate nature. In painting resilience I wanted to capture the energy and vitality found in nature. Mother Nature’s ability for regrowth and renewal. Even in the face of adversity through drought, fire and unfavourable conditions nature can survive and eventually thrive. I love the myriad of greens found in new growth and I delight in finding flowers or seed pods. I am fascinated by the way plants grow together tumbling over each other in a joyful combination of colours and shapes. I hope that Resilience brings with it a feeling of happiness and strength.

From the Artist:

‘I am an abstract painter who enjoys working with acrylics. I love using bright colours and various textures in my work. I am always excited to discover the path that a painting will take as I explore the synergy of vibrant colours and textures. I like to work by letting the artwork talk to me as I concentrate on developing the parts of a painting I like. A juxtaposition of colours, an interesting texture, some wide expressive strokes can begin the creative process. I like to experiment with different techniques, materials and colours. I enjoy the experimental part of the process which is why the freedom of abstract is my favoured medium. I use my garden for inspiration. Nature renews my creative spirit and I enjoy painting artworks with an abstract botanical element to them. I believe that each painting has an energy that it brings to the space it occupies. Tranquility and celebration are two emotional states I often paint in. I believe that energy transfers to the canvas. Painting is the most joyful activity I can imagine and I am thrilled to think I can share that feeling through my paintings.
