Paula grew up in tropical North Queensland in the 60’s and 70’s. Paula completed a Diploma in Design at West Thames College, London in the 1980’s. Paula started her creative career working full time for the British Design Council as a display designer, prop maker/exhibitions assistant in Piccadilly and worked around the UK, with the talented Mark Levy.
During the 90’s Paula designed and made a range of hand painted Papier Mache jewellery and designed posters and promotional graphics for community and commercial events. Paula completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Studies and Policy in 2000, majoring in art history, at CSU Bathurst. Paula’s passionate that Design is Art. This combined with her visual communication skills, has helped Paula create some beautiful houses/gardens.
Paula’s childhood epilepsy returned without notice in her 40’s bringing difficulties and much disruption. This unexpectedly gave Paula the impetus to ramp up her creative work as Paula’s mainstream employment ended.
Paula’s first painting to hang in an art gallery was in late 2011, in the Grafton Regional Gallery.
Paula works in a variety of mediums and describes herself as a ‘Displayist’ who is always trying to get that beauty level right. Paula loves the way art and design together can make a powerful display for enjoyment, inspiration and effective communication on many levels.
Paula lives on the NSW North Coast with beautiful budgies, as many wild birds, wildlife and plants as possible, and a very supportive husband.
